The best coaching is client-led. You'll choose the focus of the conversation. As your coach, Doug will ask questions that will help you think more deeply, clarify your thoughts, and maybe even challenge your assumptions. Where appropriate, Doug may share perspective and insight based on his experience as a leader, manager, executive recruiter and coach. If appropriate, you and Doug may also do a little collaborative writing in your session.

You'll have an opportunity to complete a form that will help Doug prepare for your session and help you make the most of your time. The form will include an open response field in case the questions presented don't fully address your particular situation.

Yes. You'll have an opportunity to upload a resume, CV, bio or a job description in advance of your session. Doug generally spends up to about 15 or 20 minutes reviewing your LinkedIn profile and any materials you might have shared.

Within a few days of your session, Doug will share his own summary of the key takeaways from your session and any additional resources that might be helpful.

If you choose to do so, you will have an opportunity to have your session recorded. With confidentiality in mind, this will not be the default option. You'll need to request it before or at the start of the session.

The time is yours. You can discuss anything related to your career that you feel comfortable sharing. Of course, career and life are intertwined, so you may choose to share details about your personal life, too. Depending on where the conversation goes, Doug may also ask about your personal life as it relates to your career.

Yes. We won't share or sell your name, email or any other information you choose to share in connection with your Career Strategy Session. 

Yes, but only for potential clients considering Doug's Craft Your Narrative or Advance Your Narrative signature programs. To be considered for those, you will need to complete a short application first. You can find more details here.

Yes. In order to coordinate your session, you'll need to opt in to receive emails from Career Narratives. You'll also be added to the list for The Career Narratives Newsletter. Doug writes the newsletter himself and limits the number he sends to no more than a few a month. You can unsubscribe at any time, but we hope you won't.

Generally, no. Doug sets aside a limited number of sessions to work with clients, so the time you book is yours. However, emergencies do arise from time to time, and at our sole discretion, we may reschedule your session to another time given at least one day of advance notice.

No, Career Strategy Sessions are non-refundable. If, however, you request a refund, we may, at our sole discretion, issue one. To date, no one has ever requested a refund. We did, however, grant one without being asked. It was just a bad fit.
